Can You Help Me Travel from Vermont to Ohio
Next week will be full of adventure for me, considering that while Pete and Jason explore Canada (attending the Liberty Summer Seminar and meetups in Montreal, Toronto and Windsor), I will be traveling from the I-91 corridor in VT to Findlay, OH.
“Hold up! Why aren’t you traveling through Canada, meeting the cool activists, and attending all the fun events there?” You ask? Unfortunately I do not have a permission slip from the government so I cannot “legally” join them. I will blog more about this soon.
I will depart from the I-91 corridor in VT (a point mutually agreeable to the person giving me a ride and to MHD) on Tuesday July 21, from where I will move in the direction of Findlay, OH, where I will rendezvous with the crew on Thursday July 30. Pete’s mother has kindly offered and confirmed a ride to Vermilion, OH, where I may stay for a night or two to Findlay, OH. Also, an individual named Greg (better known as RushFan online) has generously offered to give me a ride from the Mentor-Eastlake-Willoughby, OH area to Vermilion OH, though the date is not yet confirmed (presumably between July 27-29).
With a portion of the route guaranteed, and another in the process of being determined, I am asking for rides to complete the trip. From Vermont, to the Mentor-Eastlake-Willoughby OH area, I have not yet confirmed rides. I would be most appreciative of your support. And this has the potential to demonstrate the strength of the civil society that we in the freedom community advocate.
Also, as part of this experiment and adventure, we thought it would be great that I do interviews with people who give me rides along the way. As we drive, you can tell me your story about how and why you fight for freedom and responsibility and oppose government control. Your interview would then be broadcast on MHD. So, if you are interested in helping with a ride, and would like to tell MHD your thoughts about freedom and experiences with government, please contact us and indicate your location, availability, and other relevant information.

One of our listeners has been coming back without a passport and all they’ve been doing is lecturing him and trying to scare him.
Odds are good you’d be delayed but allowed back in.
On the way into Canada you can probably get by with a driver’s license.
That said, I understand not wanting to risk it.
Thank you for the insight Ian. Perhaps I can still visit Canada.
I believe Ian is right about Canada. Americans can enter with a driver’s licence. The difficulty is that the United States now requires a passport for entry even for American citizens.
If you’re an American, your main worry should be Canada as it is a foreign country. If Canada is happy with a driver’s licence — and Canada Customs might warn you about American restrictions — then you should be okay. It would be a really big deal if the United States did not allow one of their own citizens re-entry.
I should add that Canada might not allow you entry if they think America won’t readmit you.
MHD: you guys should try and meet up with Marc Emery while in Canada while he’s on his Farewell Tour before going to jail. See his schedule here: http://www.cannabisculture.com/v2/content/marc-emerys-farewell-canada-tour
Actually, I see he’s going to be at the LSS in Orono, ON!
