The Jones County Poem

Pete, Kathy and Adam in Wisconsin
NASHVILLE, TN – A couple of days ago when I was still in St. Paul working remotely I saw that the MHD inbox had received an email from Kathy Breidel, Adam’s mom, whom we’ve hyped up in the past for good reason. It gives me yet another reason to hype her up as she put her skill as a poet to work for MHD in a poem she entitled “The Jones County Poem.”
If you’re new to MHD and are wondering what the hell this post/poem is about I encourage you to check out this link.
Enjoy. I sure as hell did! Thanks again Kathy:)
T’was the day of Jones County, and in the RV,
It was all going well for Marv’s famous three.
The flyers were ready, and handled with care.
On the way to the Meet up, they soon would be there.Jason was nestled all snug in his bed,
While visions of freedom danced in his head.
With Pete at the wheel, and Adam by his side,
They were ready to enjoy a very nice ride. When the police car came close and made such a clatter,
Pete pulled to the side to see what was the matter.
Away to the window Adam flew like a flash,
Reached for the camcorder and threw up the sash.Registration in hand, Pete stepped below,
The sun was shining, creating a glow,
And what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But Officer Atkins standing off to the rear. And with his walkie talkie so lively and quick
He called for more backup, just being a prick.More rapid than eagles the officers came,
And they pepper sprayed and handcuffed and called them by name:Get Adam and Jason, and don’t forget Pete,
But Jason had time to make one little tweet,Then Free Keene, Free State, Libertarian, and many,
Started raising money so they would have plenty. As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
They sat sweating in the police car, watching the sky. Then over to the jail, the famous three flew
Two had no shirts, and they jailed Marv too!
And then in a twinkling , they knew for a fact,
The officers had gathered and made up a pact,
To keep them in Jail late into the night,
Then think of the charges by mornings first light.
The guys asks questions till there throats really hurt
The Officers didn’t answer, they kept to their work
The cell grew cold, and the night it wore thin,
Then along came Allison, wearing a grin.
The bond finally paid, they were ready to leave.
The charges they had, they just couldn’t believe,
Resisting, Disorderly, and having a beer?
“That’s why we were held for ten hours here?”
They posed for a picture when leaving that place,
Knowing the Justice system is such a disgrace!
But I heard them exclaim as they walked out of sight,
We’ll be back Sept 10th to finish the fight!
