Thank-you Thursday: Texas Roundup

I’m glad to be doing another Thank-you Thursday (TYT) post since it’s one of my favorite things to do as a member of the Motorhome Diaries (MHD) crew. We are truly grateful for all the support we receive while on the road. We had another active weekend following last weeks TYT in the Lone Star State: from Austin, Lake Jackson, Houston and the surrounding areas. We would like to thank the following for their contribution to the Motorhome Diaries:
Donations
- $30 from Rex Barron
- $10 from Brian Kelly, who wanted to offset the cost of Jason’s Big Texan dinner (now it cost him only $64)
- $30 from James Poesl, for “Fuel for M.A.R.V.”
- $5 from Mike Barskey, who donates this monthly to MHD. Thanks!
- $30 from Justin W. Steigerwalt, who ask that we keep going. Will do!
- $5 from Nena Bartlett who says “take Allison to dinner.” I’m sure we can find a McDonalds to get her a happy meal.
- $7 from Michael E. Maresco who also wants us to take Allison out for dinner. Hmm, see a trend?
- $1 from Richard Tomasso who would like us to interview Allison Gibbs. How much air time will $1 buy Allison?
- $50 from Tony Bushala
- $100 from Matt Harrison
- $100 from Jason Deraleau
- $50 from Tobin Titus
- $50 from Stephen Thomas
- $2 from Sharon Brewer
Thanks again to all of you who donated via PayPal. Without your donations it would be near impossible to make this a reality. Much love to all of you.
Some props need to go out to the following folks who made our time in Texas most enjoyable and productive:
Rachel Davison who not only welcomed us into her home but also attended both meetups in Texas. She and Andrew Humphries also paid the way for Pete to see the new Star Trek movie. Along with bringing two of the most talented high schoolers we have ever met to the Houston meet up. It was quite the treat to meet young libertarians who reject state violence.
David Guenthne, from the Texas Public Policy Foundation, who took us out to breakfast and sat down for an interview with MHD.
Evan Pierce, who put a lot of work into hosting a very successful meetup.
He and Rachel also helped MHD put up the 200 stickers we received from Libertystickers.com.
Also a big thanks goes out to all the people who attended including but not limited to: Patrick Dixon the LP Chairman of Texas, RLC Chairman Dave Nalle, Norman Horn of Libertarian Christians and The BareNaked Family.

Nancy Robbins and Katie Wilhite Brewer for having MHD on thier weekly web cast, Libertycafeshow.com. Thanks for squeezing us in and making a great video with the five of us.
THanks to Ron Paul for taking the time on Mother’s Day to be interview by MHD. (You can check out the two part interview here) Also to Jesse Benton, Norm Singleton, Allison Gibbs and Adam Dick for helping to make this happen. We are also grateful for the goodies (T-shirts, polos, books, etc) that were given to us while at Dr. Paul’s office. Also, to the Daily Paul for posting our interview with the Congressman.
We would like to thank Robert Mayer and his friend John ‘Stinky’ Dieter for putting together and hosting the Houston meet up. It was properly dubbed “Gumbo, Guns & Guitars” which we all enjoyed very much. Also a special thanks to Dave Dixion, who donated all the loot from his T-shirt sales to MHD. You can check out some of his other fine art at http://mr_ddixon@deviantart.com. To all who attended, thanks again for showing MHD how its done in the Houston area, we all had a great time.

A special thanks to all of those who have helped promote Motorhome Diaries via the airwaves and/or webcast as Pete stated in this post. We are thankful for all of those mentioned above and the many others who follow us via websites, social networks, and other outlets. It is a team effort and MHD would not be possible without the support of the freedom movement!

You guys should look into the subscription aspects of PayPal. I’d be willing to donate monthly if it were done automatically. Antiwar.com does this. I pay like $5 a month or something to help keep them running. It’s just auto-deducted from my PayPal account.
That “South Austin Freehold” flag is quite interesting because, among the long list of bicolored anarchist flag motifs, black and blue is actually a symbol for anarcho-transhumanism (tech-positive futurist utopia types).
Actually guys, it’s http://libertarianchristians.com, not .org. Hehehe. It was great to meet all of you and I hope you make it back sometime. South Austin Freehold forever!!!
You did good, keeping your cool during the most adverse circumstances. Fight to the end!!!
If you go to Auburn, AL be sure to stop by the Ludwig von Mises Institute! mises.org.
And see my page!
Jason, thanks for the suggestion. We’re looking into this and hope to make it a reality soon.
