Hello everyone.  As you all know yesterday was 4/20, so to all of you who view that as a holiday, I hope your day was packed with laughter and munchies.

As for us, we had an a “workday” yesterday, though none of us feel it’s really work.  We left the Mojave Desert just in time to miss the pounding the sun was sure to put on us.  We headed west  in search of high-speed internet.  After about an hour we came to a Starbucks and took over the largest corner they had.  I wonder what others think when we  roll in and unpack  three backpacks full of technical gear?

Just wanted to give y’all a quick update — right now we’re sitting in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Vegas about to head toward LA. We’ve had a really awesome time here in Sin City interacting with other fans of freedom including those from the Nevada Policy Research Institute, Anarchy Cafe and Food Not Bombs as well as those involved with Alongside Night. And we even got hooked up with a ride on the roller coaster at New York New York!

Tonight we’re going to drive a couple of hours and work, grill and crash in the desert, which we’ll get some good content that we captured here in Vegas up shortly.

While in Sin City we had the privilege of meeting with about a dozen others at the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf — the location that Anarchy Cafe calls home every Thursday evening. Some of the guest included Alongside Night author J. Neil Schulman, Charles W. Johnson (aka Rad Geek), Anarquia author Kent Hastings and Nevada Policy Research Institute policy analyst Patrick Gibbons.

There was so much constructive and intellectual conversation that the group closed down the coffee shop and carried on at a local diner. We ended the evening confident that freedom is being pursued in Sin City, especially after all the connections and goodwill made at this meetup.

As the MHD crew travels across the country we’re making a point to interact with freedom-oriented folks from all walks of life, including those in the think tank world.

Last week I was fortunate to be contacted by my bud Patrick Gibbons, whom I met back in the summer of 2006 at an Institute for Humane Studies seminar. Patrick now works at the Vegas-based Nevada Policy Research Institute and invited us to stop by as we rolled through town.

In the video below Patrick and his colleagues Andy Matthews and Victor Joecks give an overview of NPRI and the battles they’re waging in Nevada to encourage policymakers to shed their Big Government mindset and instead recognize the rights of each individual and embrace free markets and the accompanying prosperity.
