DC Meetup!
Last night we had an awesome meetup in DC with over 100 of our liberty-oriented friends from the area. Well, in all honesty, we were across the Potomac in Arlington, VA where smoking in establishments is still permitted at the owners discretion, taxes are lower and open carry is legal.
In the video above I give a short overview of MHD for those awesome folks present — some of whom were already our lifelong friends and some who I hope will join their ranks.
The pic below is, for me, right up there with our Auburn meetup pic as being the most badass meetup pic yet. Here we all were in the Belly of the Beast — dedicated to advancing the voluntary society through a variety of methods.
Special thanks go to:
- Jeremy Horpedahl who acted as our point-person on the ground and who got the night started with an inspiring toast to those that stand for true freedom on all issues at all times
- Kevin Dean and Allison Gibbs who bought us a couple adult beverages and some grub
- John Kramer, who gave $20 even before the meetup when we were getting a tour of the Institute for Justice by my good bud Bob “Bob-o” Ewing
- Christy Rhoty, my previous colleague at both the Institute for Humane Studies and the Cato Institute and one of the sweetest people I know, who donated $20 for gas
- John Bratton, one of the first people I met in DC and one of my closest friends, who donated $100 to keep us rolling
- Adam Bitely, who gave $35 to help make sure MHD continues
- And a couple other individuals (apologies!!) who gave $20 and $60 — please contact us and remind us who you were so we can give some love publicly!

100 people? Canada can top that for sure.
Matt, I hope an area w/ 30+ million people can top an area of ~5 million:)
