Day Three in Jones County
NOTE FROM MHD: This is a recap of our activities on Sunday. See Pete’s post on Friday and Adam’s post on Saturday. Stay tuned each day for more content from Jones County until we go to court on Thursday, September 10th.
JONES COUNTY, MS – On Sunday morning we woke up in MARV, which was parked in the yard of a local liberty-loving family. After cooking breakfast for the crew they then took Pete and Adam to their church. There they met and spoke with the welcoming folks about why MHD was in town. It didn’t take long before others told us of their experiences with the out of control Jones County Sheriff’s Department that believes it can do whatever they’d like because they have a badge pinned to their clothing. Every time we hear of the arbitrary brutality committed by law enforcement against the good people of Jones County our hearts break. It’s why we hope to bring the aggressive deputies, captain and the sheriff that condones such actions to justice.
After Church we drove to McAlister’s Deli which has wi-fi, comfortable seating and a super-friendly staff. Largely because people saw our story on the front page of the local newspaper, folks approached us and wished us well. It also didn”t hurt that our RV is bright gold. Our message to them: that they deserve a sheriff and deputies that will actually follow the laws they are sworn to uphold instead of using their monopoly on violence to victimize the good people in their jurisdiction. In many cases this led to us learning more of just how out of control the department is.
After a long day at McAlister’s we wrapped up when Adam rang the dinner bell. We all enjoyed the pork chops he prepared before heading over to the Wal-Mart parking lot where we parked overnight. As we’ve mentioned before, Wal-Mart has a policy of welcoming motorhomes (as they know their owners will spend money inside). Because of the looming threat that being in the jurisdiction of Alex Hodge’s department we also are comforted by the fact that the parking lot is well lit and under video surveillance. We, of course, also have video cameras of our own that can keep everyone accountable if need be.
Another benefit of being at Wal-Mart is it’s high visibility – since MARV’s transformation our RV is a rolling billboard for liberty after all. Several car loads of people stopped by to see what we were about, including Joseph, a self-described gearhead and computer guru and his bud Daniel, who was leaving for Marine boot camp next Monday (whom Adam and Pete informed about Oath Keepers, Daniel Lackemacher’s WarIsImmoral.com website and even showed him the video Pete had shot with Lackemacher when in Chicago). Also, a couple in a truck pulled up and wished us luck and said to watch out for Hodge and his deputies as they’re well-known to plant drugs on people. And we even learned some information that will prove to be very helpful as we hold the deputies responsible for their criminal acts.
After a long day we got some rest for the busy week ahead.

Best of luck. Here’s hoping the County Machine doesn’t include the judge. Or, if it does, he as least has the common sense to realize the world is watching, and this would be a very poor time to circle the wagons.
