Day Seven, Our Last Day in Jones County
NOTE FROM MHD: This is a recap of our activities on Thursday, the day the crew of the Motorhome Diaries went to trial. See Pete’s post on Friday, Adam’s on Saturday, Jason’s on Sunday, Adam’s on Monday and Wednesday.
Shortly after our illegal and immoral treatment by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department on May 14th Pete, Adam and I agreed that we would return to Jones County for an entire week to expose the out of control law enforcement preying on the good people there. Specifically the out of control Sheriff’s Department led by Alex Hodge. One just has to visit JonesCountySheriff.com to realize how widespread the problem actually is. Like Pete described yesterday after the trial, justice is very important to us and the many residents in Jones County we spoke with. It’s because of this that we will be be holding accountable the Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies and Mississippi State Trooper who were engaged in criminal actions the morning of May 14th on the side of I-59 North. Justice demands this.
We certainly couldn’t do this without our amazing legal team.
Representing me was Dale Danks, former Mayor of Jackson Mississippi and high profile attorney with Danks, Miller, Hamer & Cory. Michael Cory Jr., a partner with Mr. Danks and the Mississippi State Chairman for the Ron Paul ‘08 Presidential Campaign, represented Adam. Pete was represented by Tom Schornhorst, the Emeritus Professor of Law Indiana University School of Law. He is also a nationally recognized expert in search and seizure. And they worked on this case with the help of their staff pro bono.
It should be obvious that neither Adam, Pete or I are rich. Sadly, Adam and Pete can’t normally afford shirts. Under normal circumstances we would not be able to retain such high caliber legal help and it’s likely that neither could you. The system is rigged against you so you won’t be able to fight back. But fight back we did. And when I say we, I’d like to include you. Whether you live in Jones County or not, many of you have helped by calling while we were in jail, donating money to get us out of jail, filling our gas tank, sitting next to us in court, telling us your stories, offering moral support and countless other ways big and small. I’ll be spending the rest of my life trying to thank you all but I hope you realize how grateful Pete, Adam and I am for your invaluable support.
Outside of court we snapped a photo with one of the patrol cars the Jones County Sheriff’s Department uses.
After court Adam and Michelle Seven jumped in an elevator with Carrol “Bulldog” Windam and Atkins and traveled down three what must have been very uncomfortable floors for them. Adam and Michelle then began to take their photos and introduce these two to our Motorhome Diaries audience. Not learning his lesson from the courtroom Carrol “Bulldog” Windam told Adam, “take another picture of me and you’ll go to jail.” One day these guys will learn, we promise.

Did I miss something or didn’t you say anything about the outcome of your day in court?
I like the daily post when you are in a community. If you can get cooperation re media, especially newspaper so that it can be referred back to, to get the website address out there so people will be looking for your coming….anticipate it. You may do this already and receive little cooperation….that is the way, small towns especially, operate….suspicious of anything different….anything to rock their very comfortable don’t-want-to-be-rocked boats. You did a good job in Jones County despite lack of cooperation of our one true local newpaper…..which, like many small town papers, don’t bother with anything that just might upset the local ‘good ole boy’ status quo, thus becoming a part of it. They SHOULD have contacted you in response to the email you sent to them. Now, a very surprised local paper May try to regain some journalistic integrity….the jury remains out on that. Good job….keep up your good work and here’s wishing you well everywhere you go.
Is the sherrif looking for the person(s) who stole the neck of the deputy on the left? Or did he trade it for more chins?
(That’s bad, I know. Come arrest me!
Wow that Bulldog Carroll is a handsome devil.
I think it’s the triple chin!
Tobin…The Judge promised to try and have a decision within two weeks of the trial, which would be the 24th of September.. He stated he had court everyday the next week and that he needed some time to review the testimony and evidence presented. There were several motions introduced and I supposed He must research those before making a final decision. I am just guessing the Guys are being mute on the trial on the advice of their legal team until a decision is handed down. That is pretty much SOP.
That melon head on the left has pit bull wrote all over him.
