While at Burning Porcupine I had the opportunity to speak to Dave Ridley as he got ready to drive himself to the Cheshire County Jail where he’ll be spending the next six days (July 6 – 11). His crime? Taking video of public “servants” engaged in their public duties. Dave, as you will see in this video, likes to say “on the job means on the record” when the public is paying your salary. There is a lot of talk about transparency by politicians but when they have the ability to allow the public to see what is happening in their name, with their money, they reveal their preference to hide in the shadows. People like Dave Ridley and Sam Dodson are on the vanguard and when governments finally allows their citizens to see what is going on it will be due to people like them. And of course when people see what their government is up to they probably wont like it very much.
