Charges Against Pete Eyre Dismissed
In the continuing Jones County saga, this past Monday the charges against me were dismissed. Yay! Much thanks goes to our very awesome and very thorough legal team.
More on this from the Laurel Leader-Call.
Just a reminder: it wasn’t myself, Jason or Adam who acted in the wrong on the side of the Interstate back on May 14th but the Jones County Sheriff’s Department officers and a Mississippi State Trooper.
Next step: Get the ridiculous charges against Jason and Adam dropped and proceed forward to hold accountable those who violated our rights.
Thanks again to everyone that’s supported us throughout this ordeal. I have no doubt that it’s emboldened others to stand up for their rights knowing such a community exists!

Its about time. And I hope that your case against them is succesfull and shows them for who they are. Not that any amount of money will
pain that jason felt when he was pepper sprayed, won’t take back the time lost in jail and reclaiming MARV from the tow yard. Or the time and effort wasted in getting ready for a defense. Pete, jason and Adam. I wish your trip was continuing. But thanks for the ride.
What great news! I’m so thankful you all stood up for your rights and that you had such great legal representation. Now, I look forward to the rest of the charges being dismissed. Way to go!!
Just a technical correction: The charge against Peter Eyre (possession of beer in a dry county) has not as yet been dismissed. However, the only evidence supporting that charge — the single bottle of beer in the motor home fridge — has been declared inadmissible due to an illegal search (stemming from unreasonably prolonged detention of MARV and Peter Eyre). It is now up to prosecutor to dismiss or seek appellate review of the county court judge’s ruling. In my view any such attempt is highly unlikely to be successful, but we will have to wait and see. If the prosecutor takes that step, then we can ask for appellate review of the rulings that keep the charges against Adam Mueller and Jason Tallley alive.
Sweet. Glad to hear the good news so far.
Great news! And good for LLC for covering the story. Our Jones County Sheriff’s Dept. should concentrate on doing the legimate jobs they have to do and leave the illigitimate harassment ‘jobs’ on every kid’s playground where they belong. We want a man acting like a man and department personnell acting like men but instead many times now we have had to realize that we have a bunch of power-heady guys bullying because they are ‘playing like kids on a playground’ with their ego and power. Yes, they do some good things but all too often they become children who demonstrate their lack of ability to keep their ego and power in check. Jones County is NOT a kids’s playground. The more people who stand up for their rights and bring these types of injustices to public attention, the sooner our Sheriff’s department will grow up and act like men instead of bullies in a kid’s playground.
I’m just now seeing all this for the first time and haven’t read all the posts and comments yet, so forgive me if this has been addressed already. With regard to the guns: in Mississippi, it is perfectly legal to carry a loaded and concealed firearm in your vehicle, no permit required. If the presence of firearms were the excuse to search, it’s a damned poor excuse.

Uh, that should’ve been, “If the presence of firearms was the excuse….”
“Is it a rule of justice that one accepts unconstitutional behavior because there is precedent for it? ”

we have these same problems in jones county Ga. the cops think they run every thing, I got arrested for something i didnt do, spent 2 weeks in jail and lost my job and was told charges were dropped,so I went on with everything like normal 8 months later I have to appear in court and put on probation for 1 year for a crime I didnt do. they said if I didnt take the probation i would have to go to jail for 1 year. and now iv been wanted for probation violation for the past year, im not paying for something I didnt do. I have friends that I went to high schhol with that work for the sheriffs Dept. and they even think some of the cops are power hungry and think there crap dont stink. and no one will run against the sherriff, because all the votes are rigged anyway. I’m tired of this town but I cant leave its my home so I guess I have to deal with it
Not trying to start anything, but I have to ask the following.
Can a two time convicted felon be in possession of a firearm? Or in any position to possess one? This could be another felony charge.
