JONES COUNTY, MS – Last night around midnight after driving a couple of hours from Jackson, MS, we turned MARV’s ignition to the “off” position in the Laurel, MS Wal-Mart parking lot.The reason? Our pending court case this Thursday at 1pm (if you want to come out that’d be awesome!). We’ve already plead “Not guilty” and are attempting to hold accountable the individuals working for the Jones County Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi State Patrol that violated our rights. Also, leading up to the court date we plan to do interviews with folks from the area so if you’re in/around Jones County and have a story we may be interested in please let us know by leaving a comment on this post shooting us an email. And we’re having a meetup this Wednesday, September 9th at La Fiesta Brava starting at 7pm with a lot of other lovers of liberty, so if you can join us that’d be great!

This morning I woke up, did a bit of grocery shopping, then drove to Ward’s Restaurant a mile away (I’d called them the day prior to ensure they did have WiFi) where Adam and I did a bit of work while Jason caught up on sleep and got cleaned up.

Upon entering Ward’s Adam and I were asked by the friendly employees what MHD was all about (MARV was parked out front) and after telling them, they allowed us to leave a stack of MHD flyers on the counter. Soon after Laurel resident Tim, who had learned of MHD in May after our arrest, stopped by with his daughter (it was her 9th birthday!), told us a bit about the community and Sheriff Alex Hodge and put us in contact with his friend Chip, who too had experienced a not-too-friendly run-in with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. Chip agreed to do an on-camera interview in nearby Hattiesburg an hour later.

Right as we were about to leave Ward’s David, a reporter for the Laurel Leader Call stopped by. I’d sent them an email informing them we were in town (they’d previously done a few stories on our interactions with the folks working for the Jones County Sheriff’s Department). I told David we had to take off but he was welcome to join us. And he did. It was our first time doing an interview while driving MARV and David’s first time in a RV.
