Asheville was not a planned stop on our current ‘Eastern Excursion’ route but we decided to add it after Brian Umbarger and other area residents offered to host us. We figured it was not too far out of our way, they had a meetup already planned, and there was a story there for us to cover. After a lot of winding roads, Jason was also able to have breakfast with his mother who lives in North Carolina. Way more excuses than MHD really needs to veer off course.

Boy were we glad we stopped. I was able to interview Mark and Debbie Kuhn who, two years earlier, had a cop break into their house for flying the american flag upside down (video coming soon). To make the interview happen, Brian acted as our man on the ground. He drove me to and from the interview. Brian also bought the MHD crew dinner along with giving us some tech advice for our equipment.  The night was wonderful with local libertarians eating, drinking and conversing on the issues. Before we left we were surprised that the group passed the hat around to give us $90 to fill MARV’s hungry gas tank. It was a pleasure to have met all of you and we’re very greatful.
