A Special Thanks from MHD

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Last week was a busy one for the MHD crew. We highlighted the abuse and corruption of the Jones County Sheriffs office, were shown support from many locals, held a meetup and a tire fundraiser for MARV just to name a few. I am writing this in regards to the latter because we are glad to announce that MARV does in fact have new tires.

It was the morning of September 9th when I posted The Wheels on The Wheels on The Bus Go Round & Round… But for How Long? to our blog. Around 10am we got a call from our new friend Chip stating that he had found us a deal on some tires. So Jason and I dropped Pete off at McAlisters Deli and headed to Hattiesburg, MS to Delk’s Tire Service.  When we first met Chip to interview him on Saturday he asked if we needed anything. “TIRES” we told him. We were happily surprised to hear that he had talked to the owner of Delk’s Tire and they offered us two tires at their rock bottom prices ($65 each). On top of this, Chip even offered to spring for the tires. We declined his generous offer since we received e-mail notifications that our paypal account had already received more than enough for the new wheels thanks to their discounted price.

I then wrote this update as fast as possible to notify others:

UPDATE FROM MHD: Due to some local knowledge, provided by Chip Irby, we not only found tires today but had them installed. This was done at a local shop called Delk’s Tire Sales & Service in Hattiesburg, MS. The total cost to us was only $181.90 so we’ve already exceeded the cost of the tire drive. We’ve already raised $285 thanks to the generosity of many of ya’ll so we are able to end the tire fundraiser now.  We are grateful for all of your support and hope you continue to like our work. If so, please consider a future donation to fill MARV’s gas tank to keep us rolling and searching for freedom in america. Thanks!

Thanks again to everyone who helped MHD though this process. We got a great deal on two new tires including installation, saved $10 charge to the EPA for disposal of the tires (Chip took them with him) and have peace of mind knowing that the wheels should last us the remainder of the trip. Much appreciated!
